Spectrum: Rainbow Pages
Overview: This project involved creating and publishing the latest edition of the Rainbow Pages Directory - showcasing queer places and spaces in the regions of Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph.
Key Actions:
Reviewed past Rainbow Pages editions to evaluate design, budget, and communication strategies, identifying key gaps in media engagement and financial sustainability.
Discovered Ad underpricing, conducted a competitive market analysis, and introduced fair, revenue-boosting pricing accessible to community sponsors.
Created and launched Spectrum’s first Instagram funding announcement to enhance visibility and public engagement.
Audited and updated the online directory by verifying previous listings and adding new ones, using Mailchimp to manage mass outreach.
Led advertiser relations for two months, customizing packages, assisting with ad design, and developing a standards guide to support small businesses.
Upgraded magazine production to Adobe InDesign, establishing a cohesive visual identity and managing the full design and printing process.
Results and Impact:
Fundraising: Raised $5,000—more than 200% growth compared to the previous year.
Distribution: Printed and distributed 1,000 copies across local publishers, with matching window stickers for participating businesses.
